In France, a diplôme universitaire (DU) is a degree specific to a university, unlike the licence, master's and doctorate, which are national degrees, i.e. "state diplomas".
Each university organizes this type of diploma as it sees fit, in terms of access, preparation time and assessment. A DU is by definition organized by a university.
