Artistic creation master's residencies

School life
With financial support from the DRAC and operational support from UGA's Cultural Service, this is an opportunity to invite artists with whom the students will develop a project. Immersed for a week in the facilities of the Maison de la création, they meet filmmakers who propose a creative gesture that echoes their own practice.
These residencies were an opportunity to welcome filmmaker Nicolas Humbert, co-director of the legendary film Step across the border (1990), which engaged students in the creation of ciné-poèmes.

The following year, we welcomed Boris Gerrets , whose magnificent film People I could have been and may be am was shot with a cell phone, and Jérémy Gravayat , who offered a workshop in super 8 film in a traditional film laboratory, Atelier MTK.

In 2020, Yolande Zauberman , who had just won a César the same year for best documentary film, made an original proposal to the students, who worked from sequences of films that had deeply marked them, those "films we have in our bellies" as Yolande Zauberman liked to call them, to create a montage. Using the founding films of their cinephilia, students in the Film Studies program took the liberty of editing them together, in an irreverent yet liberating gesture that bears witness to the profound questions that run through their research, while students in the Creative Documentary program, who are destined for practical work, created an imaginary draft of their own cinema, based on the references.

In 2021, Alain Della Negra and Jorge León were invited to attend, and their collective and individual projects were presented alongside their own work.
