The Humanities department offers its students a range of double degree courses, providing multidisciplinary training to give them greater skills in Humanities (classical or modern) / Philosophy, Humanities (classical or modern) / Art History, Modern Humanities / Management (L3). Lettres (classical or modern) / Philosophie, Lettres (classical or modern) / Histoire de l'art, Lettres modernes / Management (L3).
These double bachelor's degrees are ideal for preparing students for further study, particularly in the field of teaching.

Students are expected to have a good general knowledge, as well as the ability to synthesize and write. A good command of a foreign language is also strongly recommended.

Literature (classical or modern) / Philosophy

Visit dual license Modern literature-philosophy  offers students the opportunity to master the fundamentals of both disciplines. This training leads to Masters in philosophy or literature. It also opens up the possibility of running for other masters providing graduates with a wide range of opportunities. For example, students can pursue careers in culture, the book trade, human resources or communications.

These 2 double bachelor's degrees are jointly organized by two departments: UFR ARSH (arts and humanities) and by UFR LLASIC (language, literature and performing arts, information and communication).

The double license Classics-philosophyThe aim of the Philosophy / Classics double degree is to give students the analytical and linguistic tools they need to study literature from different periods and cultural areas. The Philosophy/Classics double degree leads to masters degrees in philosophy or literature, and prepares students for all types of studies related to Antiquity.
Through this excellent training program, students benefit from solid bi-disciplinary culture which broadens the scope for further study and promotes success in a variety of professional fields (teaching, public service, research).

Literature (classical or modern) / Art history

Visit dual license  Modern literature-art history enables students to acquire specific knowledge in both art history and archaeology, as well as the humanities. At the end of each year, students can choose to branch off into one of the two disciplines, provided they have passed their UEs. In 2021, the license has opened 30 seats.

The course offers the opportunity to apply for entrance examinations to the Louvre or INP schools (National Heritage Institute). This degree also provides training in master This will enable them to sit the competitive entrance exams for primary and secondary school teachers, principal educational advisors (CPE) and documentation specialists for lycées and collèges (CAPES documentation). General culture and the ability to synthesize information give you a good chance of success in competitive examinations other than those for teaching: librarianship, administrative examinations in the three public services, etc.

To start this double degree, you don't need to have any previous knowledge of Latin or Greek. Nor is it necessary to have taken the "Languages and Cultures of Antiquity" or "Humanities Literature Philosophy" or "Arts" specializations at baccalauréat level.

This license, combined with master This well-adapted program prepares students to take competitive examinations for primary, secondary and higher education, as well as for careers as documentalists, librarians, archaeologists and guide-lecturers. It enables students to acquire a wide range of skills, including a broad general knowledge of images and texts, the ability to visualize the civilizations from which we have inherited over time, rigorous methodology, writing skills, critical thinking and curiosity.

Lettres modernes / Management (L3)

Finally,université Grenoble Alpes offers, in partnership with Grenoble École de Management (GEM), a double degree Modern literature-management. Training is available only in 3rd year and only to GEM students.

Lettres modernes provides a solid general culture, particularly literary, and enables students to develop argumentative and critical skills, as well as written and oral expression in the French language, while management courses cover corporate legal management, sales behaviour, decision-making methods and finance.

Holders of this diploma can go on to study for a Master's degree in literature or a (in particular the Arts, literature and civilization) Master's degree in teaching, education and training (MEEF).
