The Department of Information and Communication Sciences at a glance
School life
The courses offered by the Information and Communication Sciences department, located in the Institut de la Communication et des Médias (ICM) building in Echirolles, enable students to gain an understanding of communication techniques, while reflecting on their changing contexts (social, political, economic, etc.) and their relationship with the public.
while reflecting on the contexts in which they evolve (social, political, economic, etc.) and their relationship with the public.
A word from management
The department is managed by Vincent Bullich and Jean-Philippe De Oliveira, Associate Professors in Information and Communication Sciences: "We're talking about a recent discipline, still in the making, compared to the Humanities or Language Sciences. It's a field that appeals to a wide range of people, and one that enables us to maintain good class sizes. We aim to raise students' awareness of intersubjectivity, provide them with technical skills and develop the intellectual openness they need to analyze communication phenomena and play a responsible role in them. The program is highly professionalized, with a variety of internships, tutored projects and post-graduation opportunities. The various courses on offer cover a wide range of information and communication fields. At the start of the 2021 school year, we're all agreed that there's a great deal of interest in the discipline, especially as it's so satisfying to see students back on the premises."
Exhibition
A permanent exhibition is scheduled to open in the ICM hall in November, in partnership with ACONIT, an association whose aim is to promote the conservation, dissemination and development of the material and intellectual heritage and know-how built up through the evolution of information technology. The ICM will be exhibiting some of its older computer equipment.
